Pinus sylvestris “Green Penguin”, is a compact evergreen conifer that retains its bright green new growth color all year. This tree was found by Jim Lewis of J Farms. The tight dense habit reaches 4 ft in height by 2 ft wide in 10 years at an average growth rate of 2-4 inches per year. While 'Green Penguin' is slow growing, it is very hardy. J Farms boasts that this little dwarf has out-performed many other trees in cold zones such as Duluth, MN. It also can do well in Zone 8, which makes this tree excellent for most gardens across the United States.
