Acer palmatum 'Amagi Shigure', is a slow-growing, upright deciduous tree with bright brick-red leaves and prominent black veins. In the spring it leafs out bright pink-red with deep purple veining. In the fall the centers of the leaves start to fade to a greenish white, leaving the darks veins to really pop against the brighter colors.
It should be noted that there is another Japanese maple by this name with small green leaves.
